We don’t have to see our friends everyday to make sure the friendship stays intact. In fact, I find this quote very meaningful and true.
"True friendship isn't about being inseparable, it's about being separated & nothing changes"
I have a friend whom I knew since we were 5. We’ve been best friends since then. After 19 years, through all the life pressures, trials and environmental changes that we’ve been through in our lives, we still stay as best friends. Though we might not see each other often like we used to and we were separated by different countries, but I can never feel awkward or something is keeping us apart when we meet up. It feels like how we were used to be in the past, getting together, talking about our lives and gossips.
But there are friendships that you can’t maintain no matter how hard you try. People change, time change, everything changes, even friendship. It hurts when your friend never bother to ask about your well being anymore, never contact you unless you’re useful to them, have nothing in common with you anymore and not making any effort to maintain the friendship. It hurts even more when your friend says hurtful things to you and act so selfish. When your patience has reached to its boiling point, you will come to the decision of giving up. If it has changed, tears and heartache won’t mend back the broken string. It will always be torn.
True friends are those that you can have fun with, laugh with, make stupid jokes with without any hard feelings and be there for you when you’re at your tough times, even forgive and forget unconditionally after involving in some conflicts.
If none of them applies, then the friendship is no longer worth keeping. It’s sad, but life goes on.
